I found this old photo booth picture of my mom and dad while looking through the old pictures I brought back last year. I think it was taken while they were dating so that would be 1963 or 1964. As always on this day, I miss my mom but the sadness is less this year and I can laugh when thinking of the good times.

Happy Mothers Day to all moms out there and, as I say every year, I don't presume to know how all mothers and kids get along but if you have a good relationship with your mom then give her a call or a hug for all of us who can't! :)

I'm with you...even though it's been seven years, this is still a difficult day for me.

Sometimes, even today, I have moments when I have to remind myself that they're actually gone. It's not as sad anymore, but just an empty space in my view of the universe.

Your post makes me wish I had a better relationship with my mom. I hope your day has far more laughter than sadness.

It has been a good day today! I used to chide those who spoke negatively of their mothers with such histrionic statements as "There will come a day when you'll wish you spent the time to stay in touch with your mom. Mine's no longer here...etc,etc" But I realized I was just displacing some of my own anger at losing my mom onto other people.

After thinking more about it and talking with others about their relationships with their mothers, I found that it was not so simple. I was very lucky that I had a very good relationship with my mother - she had given us an all-accepting love. It also helped that we ( my sibs and I) were good kids - never in jail, never got into drugs or got girls pregnant, etc. But not everyone has had this combination of luck and work come together. I realized others had loving yet more complicated relationships with their moms so that's why I say if you have a good relationship with your mom then don't take it for granted. For those that don't, then I am not the one to say they should or shouldn't just that today is a good day to ponder on that relationship.

This made me misty.

I called my mom earlier. She's 78 but mostly doing great. Thinking about the time when she'll not longer be with us is making me cry.

Oh, Pager, I didn't mean to make you sad! I'm glad you've got a good relationship with Pagermom. All we can do is live in the "now" and enjoy everything about them while they're here with us. *hugs*

I was thinking especially of you and yours today after all you all have been through recently. I hope y'all are doing OK today. :)

Thank you! Each year gets a little easier - less sadness with time though the empty place never goes away but then I guess it really shouldn't if they were a big influence on us.
