Well, we finally got some much needed rain recently. The yard is finally reviving from the post-apocalyptic brown it's been in the past few weeks. We're not allowed to water during certain hours of the day or the water Nazis will fine us, but I guess it's a good cause all-in-all for water conservation.
The news was discussing the pollen count and the bouncy weather lady was elated that our pollen count in north Texas was so low.....well, duh! There's no pollen because everything's DEAD from the heat!
But now the weather seems to finally be changing and it's getting cooler. I just hope things stay this way so we can get outside and do some things in the yard.
I call my mom every day now and it does us both good. She's fighting like I've never seen anyone else and she's making some headway with getting stronger and back on her feet. I go back and forth between happiness that she's getting some better followed by the worries that it won't last. So for now I just take it as it comes each day.
On a brighter note though I made a fortuitous discovery. I have a tablet PC I use for work. While working, I noticed the pen was starting to skip a little. This progressed with time and I finally realized that it was actually a small part of the whole screen that was not responding to the pen. Later another patch started doing the same thing and I worried the thing was starting to go out. I got pretty down about it thinking I'd need to buy a new one, but then golden beams of light shown from teh internets!
I googled the problem and on a message board about tablet PC's I found an entry about this problem. Turns out the digitizer in my tablet has some fairly touchy connections. If you squeeze the frame around the screen it usually helps restore those connections. I gave it a try and it worked! Saved me a lot of time and expense either getting this one fixed or buying a new one! It was a nice bit of good news/luck that came my way....
